Overview
Aftermarket capacitive fuel level senders that replace the standard IE F-385B float-type senders. Popular replacement that eliminates the right-tank orientation and calibration issues described on SECTION 21: Fuel Sender Assembly.
Parts Required
- CiES fuel senders (specify RV-15 compatible model)
- (Optional) Raychem D-436 splices (for extension wire routing) *** Not necessarily required depending on your wiring. ***
Installation Notes
- Install in place of the standard IE F-385B senders during Section 21.
- DO NOT FORGET to attach a ground wire to one of the mounting screws. Make sure to burnish the sensor case to achieve a good ground.
- (Optional) Route the sender extension wire using Raychem D-436 splices.
- Capacitive senders do not have an orientation-dependent float arm, eliminating the right-tank issue.
- NOTE: The native CiES sensors are FREQUENCY based.
- Verify compatibility with your EFIS/fuel gauge system before purchasing.
- One builder used the CiES gasket instead of proseal at the sender flange (same gasket approach running leak-free for years on a Cessna install). Source — includes a G3X wiring diagram photo
