RV-15 Tail/Empennage Kit — Important Notification for Builders

Dear RV-15 Builder

Recently we published an update to Kit Assembly Instruction Section 9 that outlines a revised elevator counterweight for the RV-15 tail kit. While we have already made a running change to kits that have recently shipped or are nearing shipment, some early builders may have received the previous counterweight.

Our customer service team has been in process of contacting those early builders, of which you may be one, and sending new counterweights and the necessary hardware to affected builders.

The new counterweight (above) compared to the counterweight that may have been shipped to very early tail-kit builders (below). The updated part is shorter and requires new hardware for mounting.

WHAT TO DO

If you have not yet received your tail kit or have received the new counterweights as described in the Kit Assembly Instructions, there's nothing for you to do; you're good to go.

If you have the older, taller counterweight, our customer service team will be in touch soon to advise when the replacement part will be on the way to you. If you have not received the new parts in the next few weeks please contact us.
