RV-15 Tail/Empennage Kit — Important Notification for Builders

Dear RV-15 Builder

Recently, we found that some dimples on the RV-15 horizontal stabilizer skin (HS-15001-001) and leading edge (HS-15015-001) were under-formed at the factory. They are not to full depth, so flush fasteners will not seat correctly as shipped.

It's possible some factory-dimpled holes in the HS-15001-001 and HS-15015-001 are not set deeply enough for the screw heads to sit flush.

WHAT TO DO

Before you rivet these parts, fully dimple all holes on HS-15001-001 and HS-15015-001.

To check your work, set a screw and a rivet into the dimpled holes and confirm both heads sit flush with the skin. If either head stands proud, the dimple is still too shallow. Re-dimple until both seat flush.
